Claudia Malley is executive vice president and worldwide publisher, National Geographic Global Media (NGGM), overseeing advertising sales and marketing for all of National Geographic's international as well as domestic media properties, including magazines and digital.

She joined National Geographic in 2003 as associate publisher of National Geographic magazine. She became vice president and U.S. publisher of National Geographic magazine in 2004 and senior vice president and publisher, NGGM, in October 2009. She was promoted to her current position in October 2010.

With a mission "to inspire people to care about the planet," National Geographic is resonating with consumers and advertisers more than ever before. Malley has leveraged this strong positioning, combined with the high levels of consumer engagement and desirable demographics to drive advertising and marketing success. And now, with the full strength of the Society's global assets and access to offer advertising partners, the competitive positioning of National Geographic is that much stronger.

Malley transformed the sales and marketing approach to a brand-first focus, allowing more accountability for clients, while also enabling the development of breakthrough custom marketing solutions that harness the depth of assets and touch points offered by National Geographic.

Through custom global media solution programs, Malley has worked to provide both readers and advertisers with new ways to interact with National Geographic. Platforms created include Seven Billion, The Great Energy Challenge, Where's Andrew?, The Green Effect, Energizer Ultimate Photography Contest, Camp Hyatt and more.

Malley has more than 20 years of experience in media brand management, sales and marketing, working across media disciplines including print, television and digital. She began her media career at WNET, moved to Ziff-Davis and then to Rodale, where she was publisher of Runner's World magazine from 1999-2003.

An avid runner, Malley has completed five marathons and won many awards on the road. Running continues to fuel her energy daily. She serves on the board of directors of both New York Road Runners and Wellness in the Schools, a nonprofit, community-based organization founded in 2005 in order to improve the environment, nutrition and fitness in New York City public schools.

A New York native, Malley received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Delaware. She lives in Manhattan, N.Y., and Sharon, Conn., with her husband and son.
